Terms of service

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

These are the rules for buying from Coram and using our website. We've written them in plain language rather than legal jargon, because we'd rather you actually read them than scroll past them.

Placing an order means you accept what's on this page, along with our Refund Policy, Shipping Policy, Legal Notice and Privacy Policy. Those four sit alongside this page and are just as much part of our agreement. The Legal Notice in particular contains safety information you should read before switching a light on for the first time.

These terms apply to everyone who uses the site — browsers, customers, gift recipients, reviewers, and anyone contributing content.

The short version

  • We sell decorative indoor lighting to five countries: the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Everything is priced and charged in US dollars.
  • Your order becomes a contract when we ship it, not when you click pay.
  • You have 30 days from delivery to return something — details are in the Refund Policy.
  • Our lights are for atmosphere. They are not medical devices, safety lights or toys.
  • Never modify a Coram product, and never pass a modified one to anyone else.
  • If something goes wrong, email us first. We fix nearly everything within a day.

Who's on the other side of this

Coram is the lighting brand you're buying from. Throughout this page, "we" and "our" mean Coram — and "you" means whoever is reading it or placing an order.

Our store runs on Shopify, so the checkout and the payment side are handled on their platform. Everything else comes to us, and it all lands in one inbox: teamcoram@yahoo.com.

You need to be old enough to buy

Placing an order means entering a contract, so you have to be legally able to do that where you live — the age of majority in your country, state or province. If you're younger than that, a parent or guardian has to place the order for you; by doing so they accept these terms on your behalf and take responsibility for the order.

Where we ship

We currently serve five markets: the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. If your country isn't offered at checkout, we can't ship there yet — please don't route an order through a freight forwarder or reshipping service, as we can't track, support, or accept returns on orders that leave our shipping network.

We may decline service

We reserve the right to refuse service, refuse or cancel an order, and limit or prohibit access to the site, to anyone, at any time, at our sole discretion. We may also limit quantities — per person, per household, per order, or per region — and may restrict or discontinue sales in any jurisdiction. Some products are sold online only and in limited quantity.

What we sell — and what it isn't

Coram makes decorative indoor ambient lighting. The whole point of these products is atmosphere: warm light, moving patterns, a room that feels different in the evening.

That also means our lights are not task or reading lights, not emergency or safety lighting, not outdoor or wet-area products, not toys, and not medical devices. Full safety requirements — including our photosensitivity warning for the flashing and strobe modes — live in our Legal Notice. Please read it.

About light, photos and expectations

Light behaves differently in every room. Wall colour and texture, ceiling height, room size, how far away you place the lamp and how dark the room is will all change how the projection looks. Our photos and videos are shot in conditions that show what a product can do — they aren't a promise of exactly how it will look in your home. Screens render colour differently from one device to the next, and small variations in finish or tone between production batches are normal. We can't guarantee that any colour shown on your monitor or phone is accurate.

No health or therapeutic claims

You'll see words like calm, unwind, rest, focus, prayer and reflection on our site. Those describe a mood. They are not claims that a product treats, diagnoses, prevents or improves any medical condition, including sleep disorders, anxiety or migraine. Nothing we publish is medical advice.

Product integrity, tampering and misuse

This section matters. Please read it before doing anything to a Coram product other than plugging it in and enjoying it.

How our lights connect

Coram lights are powered through a standard USB connection. They are supplied as power-drawing devices: they contain no user-accessible storage, are not intended to exchange data with the equipment they are plugged into, and are not sold as data accessories. Wherever possible we recommend powering the light from a certified USB wall adapter or power bank rather than from a computer.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damage to, or loss of data on, any computer, phone, power bank, hub, socket or other equipment that a Coram product — or any cable, adapter or accessory not supplied by us — is connected to.

You must not tamper with the product

You may not, and may not allow anyone else to:

  • Open, disassemble, rewire, re-engineer, repair or otherwise modify any Coram product, its cable, its remote or its packaging;
  • Install, embed, attach, solder, conceal or connect any additional component, circuit, transmitter, recording device, storage medium, software, firmware or code in, on, or through any Coram product;
  • Use a Coram product, or anything attached to it, to access, monitor, damage, disable, overload, or gain unauthorised entry to any computer, phone, network, account or data — whether your own or anyone else's;
  • Connect a Coram product to equipment you do not own or are not authorised to use;
  • Remove, alter, obscure or counterfeit any label, serial number, safety marking, warning or brand mark on the product or its packaging.

Passing a product to someone else

Coram lights are often bought as gifts, and that's welcome. But if you give, resell, donate, lend or otherwise transfer a Coram product to another person, you must transfer it unmodified, complete, and in the condition we supplied it, and you must pass on the safety information in our Legal Notice — including the photosensitivity warning and the child-safety and button-battery warnings.

You must never transfer to any person a Coram product that has been altered, tampered with, or had anything added to it, and you must never use a Coram product — modified or not — as a means of delivering malicious code, surveillance, or any other unlawful act against another person. Doing so is a serious breach of these terms, is very likely a criminal offence where you live, and is entirely your own act: we have no involvement in and accept no responsibility for a product once it has been altered or misused in this way.

Consequences

If a product has been opened, altered, added to, or tampered with in any way, then with immediate effect: any return, refund, replacement or goodwill entitlement is void; every warranty, guarantee and assurance we give is void; and all liability on our part in connection with that unit comes to an end. We may also refuse to serve you in future, cancel any open orders, withhold refunds, and — where we believe a criminal act has occurred — report the matter and cooperate fully with law enforcement and with payment providers.

Nothing in this section removes the non-excludable consumer guarantees that apply to a product supplied by us in the condition we supplied it.

Malicious code, security and interference

You must not upload, transmit, introduce or attempt to introduce any virus, worm, trojan, ransomware, keylogger, logic bomb, spyware or any other malicious or destructive code — to this website, to our systems, to our payment or fulfilment providers, to any Coram product, or to any person through anything connected with Coram.

You also must not: probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our site or any related system; breach or circumvent any security or authentication measure; interfere with or disrupt the site, its servers or its networks; use any robot, spider, scraper or automated means to access, extract or copy content, prices or images; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, order or data that is not yours; impersonate any person; or submit false, deceptive or fraudulent information, including in orders, reviews, returns claims or payment disputes.

Any breach of this section, or of the tampering section above, results in the immediate termination of your access and of any service we provide to you, without notice, and may be reported to the relevant authorities. You remain responsible for any loss we suffer as a result.

Prices and payment

Everything is shown and charged in US dollars (USD), excluding taxes, duties and shipping unless we say otherwise. If your card is issued outside the US, your bank sets the exchange rate and may add a foreign transaction fee — that's between you and your bank, and we never see it.

Prices, bundle pricing and promotions can change at any time without notice, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any product or part of the service at any time. A promotion applies only while it's live on the site; we can't apply it backwards to an order already placed, and we can't refund the difference if a price drops after you buy. We are not liable to you or to any third party for any price change, modification, suspension or discontinuation.

Very occasionally a price or description is published in error. If the mistake is obvious — a lamp listed at a fraction of its real price, for instance — we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than fulfil it, and we may correct the error at any time without prior notice. We'll always tell you if that happens to your order.

How an order actually works

When you check out, you're making an offer to buy. We accept that offer — and the contract forms — when we confirm your order has shipped. Before that point we may decline or cancel an order, and we'll refund you in full if we do. Reasons include suspected fraud, an order that appears to be for resale, stock we can't fulfil, a pricing or description error, or an address we can't ship to.

You agree to provide accurate, current and complete purchase and account information — including a correct shipping address, a working email address and valid payment details — and to keep it up to date so we can complete your order and contact you if needed. We can only ship where you tell us to. Our Shipping Policy explains what happens if a parcel is undeliverable.

Changing your mind, and returns

Cancellations, returns, refunds, replacements and how we handle bundle returns are all set out in our Refund Policy. Products may be returned or exchanged only in accordance with that policy. It's worth reading before you order, especially the section on returning part of a multi-pack.

Information on this site

We're not responsible if material on this site isn't accurate, complete or current. It's provided for general information and shouldn't be your only basis for a decision — please check more authoritative or more timely sources before acting on it. Some material may be historical and provided for reference only; it isn't necessarily current, and we're under no obligation to update it. We may change site content at any time.

Using this website

You're welcome to browse, read, share links and buy. What you may not do is use the site, our products or our content to break the law, to solicit others into unlawful acts, to harass, abuse, insult, defame, intimidate or discriminate, to submit false or misleading information, to infringe anyone's intellectual property, to publish obscene or immoral material, or to collect or track anyone's personal information. We may terminate your use of the site for breaching any of this.

Reviews, photos and anything else you send us

If you send us a review, a photo of a lamp in your room, a video, or a suggestion — whether by email, on social media, or through the site — you're giving us permission to use, publish, adapt, translate and display it in connection with our store and our marketing, worldwide and without payment. You keep ownership of your content; you're simply letting us show it.

By sending it you confirm it's genuinely yours, that it's honest, that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights (including copyright, trademark, privacy or personality rights), and that it contains nothing unlawful, defamatory, obscene or abusive, and no malicious code. We're under no obligation to publish anything, to hold it in confidence, to pay for it, or to reply — and we may edit, refuse or remove content at our discretion. What you submit remains your responsibility.

Your personal information

Any personal information you give us through the store is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Data over the internet

You understand that information you send us (other than payment card details) may travel unencrypted across networks, and may be altered to conform to the technical requirements of connecting networks or devices. Payment card information is always encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Our brand and our content

The Coram name and logo, our product designs, photography, video, written copy and the design of this site belong to us or are licensed to us. You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, exploit or create derivative works from any part of the service, the site or our content without our express written permission. If you'd like to feature Coram somewhere — a blog, a video, an affiliate page — just ask us; we're usually glad to say yes.

Other companies' services and tools

Parts of the shopping experience are run by third parties: payment providers, the order tracking service, analytics, and any site we link to. We may also give you access to optional third-party tools on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties or endorsement of any kind — your use of them is entirely at your own risk, and you should review the provider's own terms first. We don't control these services and take no responsibility for their content, accuracy, availability, products or privacy practices. Any new tools we add in future are also covered by these terms.

What we're responsible for — and what we're not

We stand behind our products. If one is faulty, damaged on arrival, wrongly supplied or not as described, our Refund Policy tells you exactly what we'll do about it, and your legal rights sit on top of that.

Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the site and our products are provided as they are and as available. We don't promise the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that results will be accurate or reliable, that any error will be corrected, or that a product will match your personal expectation of atmosphere, which is subjective by nature.

We're not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential losses — things like lost profit, lost data, wasted time or disappointment — arising from your use of the site or a product. Whatever the claim, our total liability for any product will not exceed what you paid for it.

None of this touches the rights you can't sign away. Nothing here excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says can't be excluded — including your consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, and applicable Canadian provincial and US state consumer protection laws.

If you cause us a loss

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Coram and its officers, employees, suppliers, service providers and partners from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your breach of these terms or of any document they incorporate, your misuse or tampering with a product, your transfer of a product to another person, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

If something goes wrong between us

Email us first — genuinely. Almost every problem we see is resolved the same day by replying to teamcoram@yahoo.com with an order number. Starting a bank chargeback before contacting us usually freezes the refund we were already processing and slows everything down for you.

If we can't sort it out between us, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. But if you're a consumer in the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, that doesn't strip you of the mandatory protections of your own country's law, and you're free to bring a claim in your local courts.

The remaining legal points

If part of this page fails, the rest survives. Should any provision be found unlawful, void or unenforceable, it applies as far as it legally can, and its unenforceability does not affect any other provision.

Not enforcing something once doesn't waive it. If we don't act on a breach immediately, we haven't given up the right to act on it later.

Headings are for convenience only. The section titles on this page are there to help you navigate and do not limit or affect how these terms are interpreted.

This is the whole agreement. This page and the policies it refers to replace any earlier understanding, message, proposal or agreement between us about the same subject, whether spoken or written. Any ambiguity is not to be interpreted against us merely because we drafted it.

Either of us can walk away. These terms remain in effect until terminated by you or by us. You can stop using the site whenever you like. We may withdraw access at any time, without notice, if we believe you have failed to comply — though that doesn't cancel any order already paid for and shipped, or any money owed. Obligations that by their nature should survive termination — including liability, indemnity and intellectual property — do survive it.

We may update this page. We reserve the right to update, change or replace any part of these terms by posting the revised version here with a new date. It's your responsibility to check this page from time to time. The version live at the moment you order is the one that governs that order; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept it.
